Labor Day Weekend

It was a busy weekend once again! Friday night Cecilia and I went to Tiospa Zina for the football game. Cousin Travis Heitmann is the head coach. Unfortunately, the Wambdi lost. We saw Lindsey, Greta and Julie.

Saturday evening we went to Buffalo Lake to visit some friends. It was very windy, but Wendell and Cecilia did go for a boat ride. We also went to Roy Lake where our friends Carrie and Tim and Mindy and Patrick and their families were camping.

Sunday was the Annual Sckerl Reunion outside of Lake City. It was great to see lots of family there. It was windy once again so we spend much of the day in the garage!

Hope you all have a great Labor Day! Tuesday is back to school! We have a volleyball game Tuesday night and our FIRST Football Game Friday night in Clear Lake. Wish us luck!!

Obama for President

After hearing Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, I thought I would share a couple of pictures I took when I heard him speak in Watertown and Aberdeen, SD. It was awesome to see and hear him in person. RJ and I volunteered in Watertown and actually got to shake his hand! My friend Kathy and I saw him in Aberdeen. Go Obama!!

The top three pics were taken during the Watertown Rally. Up close and personal!

The picture below is of Barack's plane at the Aberdeen Airport. We saw it as we were leaving Aberdeen. I about gave Kathy a heart attack because I screamed when I saw it.

Let the Football Season Begin!!

You know it is fall when high school football starts! RJ is playing his final year of football. He has a bye tonight while most local teams are taking the field. He is going to scout some local teams and I plan to go watch TZ. My cousin Travis is coaching so we wish them luck!! Here is Ceci with a football of her own.

Cecilia, Wendell and RJ

Cecilia continues to love books. Here is a picture of Wendell reading her one of RJ's old Power Ranger books.

Cecilia also continues to love cell phones! Here she is watching RJ check one of his many text messages!

Garbage Can Supper

Last Saturday night we attended my aunt Maxine's Annual Garbage Can Supper. She and her family put all fresh-grown veggies and polish sausage in a clean garbage can and cook them over an open fire. It is very yummy!! It was a great night of family and friends!
Cecilia had fun playing with cousing Julie and baby Austin at the Garbage Can Supper!

Learning to Roll Over

I've been thinking about adding a video clip, and couldn't resist adding a video of the VERY FIRST time Ceci rolled over. She was about 3 months old. Who could imagine I would catch it on video. It is a few minutes long, so I understand if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

The Olympics

We have been watching the Olympics most nights. I have been trying to teach Ceci how to do sommersaults. Last night we were watching diving and she was trying her best to imitate the divers. It was pretty cute!

A New Couch!!

Last weekend we went to Watertown on business and came home with a new couch! Being the couch potato I am, I am in heaven!

Here is Ceci trying it out!

7th Grade Orientation and Registration

Hi all! Last night we had 7th grade orientation and registration at Britton-Hecla. It is so fun to watch 7th graders get excited about junior high! Scared, exhilirated, anxious......the list goes on! I remember being very excited myself! Do you remember how it felt to start junior high? Hope everyone is enjoying the last weeks of summer!

Here is a picture of RJ at junior high age.

What a BUSY Weekend!

This weekend it was Harvest Days in Britton. There were lots of fun activities! On Saturday morning, my friend Carrie J. and I ran the annual 5K. My friend Jen (and fellow blogger)was also there.
Then, Cecilia, and our neighbor, Bette, took part in the Clownin' Around Kiddie Parade. Cecilia won a prize for Best Dressed (thanks to Bette)! There were a lot of people around for the festivities. Saturday night I went uptown with my friend, Michelle. The class of '88 was celebrating their 20 year reunion, so I got to see some high school friends.
RJ participated in a basketball tournament in Rockford, IL with a team from Sisseton. The didn't win a lot of games, but RJ's granny and uncle from St. Louis went to watch him play and they report he played well. Needless to say, he was tired on Monday and he took it pretty easy.
Sunday I went to supper at Pickeral Lake Lodge with my friends Carrie, Jen and Mindy. We try to get together at least once a year. It was great to spend some time with them before the school year rush gets underway!

Well, I've been rather windy today. It is raining cats and dogs outside and I better make supper!

Here is Cecilia, myself and our neighbor Bette. Cecilia actually kept her wig on for quite awhile! Bette and Wendell did a great job of getting her ready while I was running the 5K.

Cecilia is ready for bed while I'm ready to go out!

I don't have any pictures from this weekend's tourney, but here are some from a tourney that RJ and his classmates won a few years ago.

What a fine-looking bunch of ladies at the lake! Carrie, Jen, Mindy, Sheila

Last Weekend of the Summer for Sheila

Yes, it's back to the grind! I go back to school this week, although I shouldn't complain, my schedule is pretty flexible. We had a pretty laid back weekend. I put about a gazillion pictures into photo albums and Ceci had a good time looking at them. She LOVES pictures. Enjoy the rest of August. Sounds like it will cool down this week!
