Storybook Land

A couple of weeks ago, Ceci, my mom and I went to Aberdeen for a day of shopping and a visit to Storybook Land. Ceci was a bit hesitant about the characters at first, but warmed up after she saw a little girl climbing on Bambi. It was hot, which it hasn't been a whole lot this year, huh?

Look at those red cheeks!

We had a good weekend. Wendell went on a motorcycle ride up into North Dakota with Tim A. Ceci and I went to Carrie's and hung out. We went back up on Sunday to pick up Wendell's bike. We went for a boat ride which was fun on a hot summer day! Have to take advantage of summer while it is still here!

Here are a few pics from the Summer Reading Program party that was held a couple of weeks ago at the library. Ceci loves going to the library!

And, a couple of pics from the weekend!

Don Meyer Accepts the Jimmy V Award at the Espys

Northern State University mens BB coach, Don Meyer received the Jimmy Valvano Award last week in LA. The Espys aired last night on ESPN. It's much more fun to listen to Rob Lowe than me, so if you haven't heard his story, take a peek. He mentions Aberdeen SD in his speech. We don't often get a national audience. Congratulations, Coach Meyer!!

LATL

I've been promising my fellow ladies at the laker's that I would get these photos posted! I am fortunate to be a part of a group of ladies from school that try to get to the lake once or twice a summer for some food, drinks, tubing and an all-around good time! Here are a few pics, the highlight being when Jen B. plunged into the water in perfect diving form to rescue my sunglasses! Oh, and the lightning while Carrie J. and I were tubing is also unforgettable! Needless to say, we did spend some time in the pickup waiting for the weather to clear. See you ladies in August for round # 2!

JEN SAVES MY SUNGLASSES! Thanks a bunch! Thought they would have been at the bottom of the lake!

Austin Beck Benefit

This is a video made by my cousin Kelley about her son, Austin. Austin has Turberous Sclerosis which causes him to have seizures. They have been doctoring extensively, and Austin recently had the surgery chronicled below. The video explains the procedure. He is such a strong, brave young boy! There will be a benefit for him this Friday, July 17 in Lake City. Supper is from 5-8 pm with a dance to follow. There will also be a silent auction. Come to Lake City on Friday for a good time and support a worthy cause. Please pray for them!

The Three C's

I often think about how funny it is that I have three great friends named Carrie (or Cari)! They were all in one place at Johnny H. in Britton, so I had to get a pic!

Carrie James, ME, Cari Haaland, Carrie Azure.........what a crew!!!

Best Buddy Michelle....can't blame here if her name isn't Carrie or Cari!

The Baptism of Mitchell Michael

Our friends, Mike and Michelle asked us to be sponsors for their baby, Mitchell Michael. We were honored to accept! It was a nice ceremony. Here we are!

125th Parade

On Saturday, July 4 we attended the Britton 125th Parade. It was awesome! There were about 200 entries and it was one of the best parades I've seen! Ceci got a ton of candy, which I hid but can't remember where, and we saw lots of neat entries from tractors, to horses, to awesome floats.

I had to work at our church's Indian Taco Sale, which was very successful. We served 700 tacos and had people lined up outside to the street. That night, we went to the city talent show and watched $10000 worth of fireworks go into the sky. It was very impressive!!

Classmate Jeni M. followed by Paul M, Cari's husband
Don K. shows the rest of the guys how to push a tractor when this one quit!
This cake twirled-pretty neat!
Of course Dizzy Blondz would have a purse float-they sell a lot!
Quite a large group of horses, plus a flag for each state and many more!

BHS Class of '89

Yikes, where is the summer going? I'm going to have to look at my pictures to see what else I need to blog about! The great town of Britton recently celebrated 125 years of being in existence. My 20th year hs reunion coincided with this event, and since the party took place at my house, I was a busy girl!

Seventeen of my fellow classmates gathered in my garage on July 3rd, before heading off to party at Johnny Holms. It was a great to see everyone. Nobody looked a day older than 18, or that's what we told ourselves!!

Wendell even got out the foosball table that has been in our attic for 20+ years. We both really enjoy the game and look forward to whooping some people in the near future! We got some practice in that night, especially against our friends Cari and Paul who enjoy the game as much as we do.

Washington DC-Day Four

The final day!
Saturday I finished up everything I wanted to do and see but hadn't gotten to do yet, so it was kind of fast and furious. I toured the Holocast Museum, American Indian Museum and attended the Folklife Festival. I bought a few souvenirs and then headed to the airport! It was a very fun trip, but I was glad to get home!
Now that I am done with DC, I can blog about my 20 year reunion! First I need to find my camera cord so I can upload my pics! Anyway, here are a few more pics!

Washington DC-Day Three

Friday my conference ended at noon, so I had lots of time to sightsee. I took a trolley tour of the city with a tour guide who was very knowledgeable. I also went to Arlington National Cemetery, where I saw JFK's and Jackie O's graves. The cemetery was surprisingly big and seeing it was an awe-inspiring experience. I also went to the relatively new WWII Memorial and visited the Korean Memorial and Vietnam Memorial and Wall for the second time. That really got to me! Wow, it is amazing to think about what members of the military have done for our country. Thank you all!

I got back on an ever-packed Metro and to the hotel in time to avoid a hailstorm. Then I met my cousin, Michelle, for supper at a local restaraunt and drinks at the Irish pub just up the street from the hotel. It was great to see her!

Did I mention how hot and steamy it was in DC? Between walking in the heat and riding the Metro, I change clothes at least twice a day!
